The Experience
Your mini designer learns to read fabric, master hand-stitches, and drape on her own professional mannequin — building real skirts and tops as she goes, then designing one freestyle piece that's entirely her own. She finishes at a Trunk Show, presenting her work. 11 weeks | Tuesdays Sept 15 - Dec 1 (Break Oct 20) | 3:15 pm –4:45 pm | Ages: 8–12 📌 Designers under 10 need at least two terms of Fashion Design before starting Draping — the hand-skills come first. What your designer will do: ✨ Learn to read fabric — weight, fibre, and how it falls ✨ Master hand-stitches — running, back, feather, chain ✨ Drape and build on her own mini mannequin ✨ Embellish with fabric paint, transfer print and hand embroidery ✨ Present at a final Trunk Show — her runway moment Hand-stitching only. No machines — her hands, the fabric, and four stitches that hold. Included in the course: 👗 Her own professional foam mannequin — hers to keep, used again every term 👗 Her full fabric supply — metres of custom-dyed cotton in three weights, all included 👗 All threads, pins, needles, trims and embellishment materials What every designer takes home: ✨ A 1/3 life-size draping mannequin ✨ Fabric and stitch reference cards ✨ Draped skirts & tops ✨ 1 freestyle capstone piece What They Learn: ⭐ Craft — real technique, hands on real materials ⭐ Problem-solving — working through it herself, not being rescued ⭐ Planning — idea to finished piece, with every step between ⭐ Confidence — what happens after the other three Why designers stay Draping compounds. Most stay two or three terms — same mannequin, new fabric, harder work — and the difference is visible each time. 📍 Nadine 1 Residence, Al Furjan, Dubai ⚠️ Please note: students need to be able to use scissors and cut fabric independently. Cutting is part of every session. 👗 Max 8 designers per group. Limited spots — these fill fast. ⚠️Pay in Person — select this to reserve your place now and pay by bank transfer. Behaviour and safety Our sessions use real materials and tools. We ask that students follow safety instructions at all times.
